About

Tackle The Puck contains the uninformed views of a mad hockey and rugby fan from Australia named Wayne.

Says Wayne: “Living in Australia and being a hockey fan is not easy. There’s never anyone around to watch the games with and there’s certainly no one around to have ridiculous animated discussions about Luongo’s flopping with. Twitter and great sites like SB Nation fill the void somewhat, but it’s never enough. So this blog was born, with a view to expressing opinions and talking shit about all things hockey.”

How do you get to watch hockey in Australia? There’s no regular coverage. “I make use of a site that allows me to download just about every single game of the NHL season. I haven’t missed a Canucks game since 2008. The only problem is that I often don’t get to see the games until 24 hours later, so any reviews or comments on the blog are going to be a day late.”

Where does the rugby come into it? “Well, I grew up watching rugby. Despite hockey taking over as my number 1 sport to watch, rugby is still the game they play in heaven. I’ll never forget being at the Wallabies vs Lions game 3 at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney in 2001. Greatest moment in my sports spectating career.”

Favourite Super 15 team: NSW Waratahs (closely followed by ACT Brumbies & Melbourne Rebels)
